Student From Rural Bengal Earns Place in IIT Kharagpur’s Elite ‘Kriti’ Program

A student from PM Shri Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya in South Dinajpur has secured admission to the prestigious “Kriti” program conducted by the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur, bringing recognition to the district’s academic community.Misbaul Basar, a Class XII student of the residential school, was selected through a nationwide merit-based process that drew applications from across India. This year, nearly 250 students were chosen for the six-week foundational residential program.

“Kriti,” organized by IIT Kharagpur, is designed to nurture scientific and engineering aptitude among school students through guided learning, laboratory exposure and hands-on projects. The initiative aims to introduce young learners to higher-level concepts in science and technology at an early stage.Sandip Dutta, the principal of the school, praised the student’s achievement and described him as “highly talented and hardworking.”

“Being selected by an institution like IIT Kharagpur is a matter of pride for both our school and the district,” Mr. Dutta said. “We wish him a bright and successful future.”The achievement has been widely celebrated among teachers, classmates and parents at the school. Educators and residents across South Dinajpur have also extended congratulations, viewing the selection as a notable milestone for the district’s educational landscape.
