In a significant move towards modernizing police administration and strengthening public trust, the Dakshin Dinajpur District Police inaugurated advanced “e-Malkhana” facilities at both Kumarganj and Tapan Police Stations, aimed at digitizing evidence storage and improving transparency in police record management.
At Kumarganj Police Station, the e-Malkhana was inaugurated by Superintendent of Police Chinmoy Mittal in the presence of Dy.S.P. (D&T) Sahajan Hossain and other senior officials. The digital system is expected to streamline the storage, documentation, and monitoring of seized items through improved record-keeping practices.
Similarly, the Superintendent of Police inaugurated the newly established e-Malkahana at Tapan Police Station. During the programme, Dy.S.P. (D&T), Dy.S.P. (Traffic), and Dy.S.P. (DEB) were also present.
As part of both events, police returned recovered missing and stolen mobile phones to their rightful owners. A total of 39 mobile phones were handed over at Kumarganj Police Station, while 70 recovered devices were returned at Tapan Police Station, taking the total number of phones restored to citizens to 109.
The handover brought relief and happiness to many beneficiaries, some of whom had been waiting for months to recover their devices. Police officials stated that the initiative reflects the district police’s ongoing commitment to adopting technology-driven systems, ensuring transparency, and enhancing public confidence in law enforcement.
