A schoolteacher from South Dinajpur formally joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday, underscoring concerns over alleged irregularities in job recruitment and the need for transparent employment opportunities for educated youth.
Sakim Sarkar, an English teacher at Lalitmohan Adarsha High School in Balurghat, took membership in the party at the BJP’s district office in the town. He was welcomed into the party fold by district president Swarup Chowdhury, who handed him the party flag during the induction ceremony.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr.Sakim Sarkar said his decision was driven primarily by what he described as corruption in recruitment processes and the lack of fair employment avenues for qualified young people. He emphasized the importance of ensuring transparency and merit-based opportunities in public sector hiring.Mr. Sarkar also expressed his commitment to contributing to the party’s activities in the future. He stated that he would work in whatever capacity the party assigns him, with the broader aim of helping build a stronger and more progressive Bengal.
Party leaders present at the event welcomed his inclusion, viewing it as a step toward strengthening the organization at the grassroots level in the district. The development comes amid ongoing political debates in West Bengal over employment policies and allegations surrounding recruitment practices, issues that continue to shape the state’s political discourse.
