Ahead of the upcoming elections, a high-level coordination meeting was convened today involving all contesting candidates of the 37-Kushmandi (SC) Assembly Constituency. The meeting was held in the presence of the General Observer, the Police Observer, and the Expenditure Observer of Gangarampur Sub-Division to ensure a smooth and transparent voting process.

A total of eight candidates are set to contest from the 37-Kushmandi (SC) seat this year. During the session, the Observers provided a comprehensive briefing on the Model Code of Conduct (MCC), election expenditure limits, and law and order protocols. The candidates and their agents were reminded that any violation of these guidelines would be met with strict action by the commission.

A key highlight of the meeting was the discussion on the 'Worry List' concept. The General Observer explained that candidates or their election agents can submit a list of specific polling centers where they apprehend unfair practices or procedural lapses. This initiative aims to increase security and monitoring in sensitive areas identified by the contestants themselves.

In a bid to modernize election monitoring, the officials also demonstrated the use of the cVIGIL and SUVIDHA applications. While cVIGIL allows for real-time reporting of MCC violations, the SUVIDHA app facilitates various permissions for rallies and meetings. The candidates were urged to make the best use of these digital platforms for a more organized campaign.

Furthermore, the administration emphasized the importance of well-trained representatives. Candidates were advised to provide thorough training to their polling and counting agents regarding what is permissible and what is prohibited inside the booths. This move is intended to prevent any confusion or disputes on the day of polling and during the counting process.

Concluding the meeting, the Returning Officer (RO) assured the attendees that all necessary instructions and latest mandates from the Election Commission of India (ECI) would be communicated to them promptly. The administration reiterated its commitment to conducting a peaceful and impartial election in the Kushmandi constituency.
