In Hili, a Grassroots Effort Brings Blood Donors and Basic Care to an Underserved Border Region

In a notable effort to address the district’s ongoing blood shortage, a local humanitarian organization hosted a voluntary blood donation and free health check-up camp on Saturday. The initiative, organized alongside the group’s annual cultural program, took place at its office premises near Lattumoydan and drew an enthusiastic turnout from residents.

According to organizers, a total of 28 individuals donated blood during the camp, including five women. Medical professionals present at the event emphasized that this contribution would play a meaningful role in strengthening the district’s blood reserves.

The camp also featured comprehensive health services, with 54 patients receiving medical examinations and free medicines. Specialists provided consultations across general medicine, dentistry, and ophthalmology, offering much-needed care in this border-region community.Among those in attendance were senior medical officials and specialists from regional institutions, who commended the initiative as both timely and impactful. Their presence underscored the importance of collaborative public health efforts, particularly in underserved areas.

Local residents noted that such programs not only improve access to healthcare but also foster greater awareness about preventive health practices. The organization’s president, Angan Sarkar, described the initiative as an expression of social responsibility and affirmed plans to continue similar outreach activities in the future.The camp, which began at 11 a.m., continued throughout the day and concluded successfully, buoyed by active participation from the community.
