Police Pledge Tight Security as West Bengal Prepares for 2026 Assembly Elections

With the 2026 West Bengal Assembly elections approaching, district authorities in South Dinajpur have begun intensifying preparations to ensure a peaceful and fear-free voting process. Superintendent of Police Chinmoy Mittal outlined the administration’s strategy during a press conference held Sunday afternoon at Balurghat Police Station.

Mr.Chinmoy Mittal stated that security arrangements are being strengthened across the district in strict accordance with directives from the Election Commission. As part of routine preparedness, central armed forces have already begun conducting route marches in various areas, a move aimed at reinforcing public confidence ahead of the polls.

Emphasizing a zero-tolerance approach, he noted that any form of unrest or electoral malpractice would be dealt with firmly. Adequate police deployment is being planned for every polling booth, alongside enhanced surveillance measures to maintain order.

“The primary objective of the district police is to ensure a free, fair, and impartial election,” Mr.Chinmoy Mittal said.


The administration’s proactive stance has fostered a sense of reassurance among residents, with many expressing optimism that the upcoming election will be conducted in a calm and orderly environment.
