In the run-up to a crucial electoral contest, political activity has intensified in the Harirampur area of South Dinajpur district, where a major campaign rally is scheduled for March 25. The event, organized in support of Trinamool Congress candidate Biplab Mitra, is expected to be addressed by West Bengal’s Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee.
The anticipated visit has triggered heightened political engagement across the district, with both administrative authorities and party workers mobilizing extensively to ensure a successful gathering. On Saturday afternoon, braving heavy rainfall, Mr.Biplab Mitra conducted a detailed inspection of the A.S.D.M. ground in Harirampur, the venue for the rally. Despite adverse weather conditions, he reviewed logistical arrangements, including the placement of the main stage, seating plans for attendees, and designated entry and exit routes. Special attention was also given to security measures, crowd management, parking facilities, and the creation of separate access routes for VIP movement.
Following the site visit, Mr.Biplab Mitra held a strategy meeting with district party president Subhash Bhowal and other local leaders. Responsibilities were assigned across organizational levels, with an emphasis on strengthening booth-level coordination, ensuring worker turnout, and intensifying campaign outreach in the days leading up to the rally. The upcoming event has generated considerable enthusiasm among party supporters throughout Harirampur and the wider South Dinajpur district. Political observers suggest that the Chief Minister’s rally could play a significant role in shaping voter sentiment ahead of the assembly elections.
