A one-day free medical camp was organized on Sunday at Sannyasi Tala in Hili, marking a significant outreach initiative by the Dakshin Dinajpur District Press Club as part of its golden jubilee celebrations.

The camp was arranged by the Dakshin Dinajpur District Press Club in collaboration with Sonoscan, with logistical support provided by the Naopara Tior Social Welfare Society. The initiative aimed to extend essential healthcare services to residents, particularly those in underserved rural areas.

A team of medical professionals, including general physicians, ophthalmologists, dental specialists, gynecologists and surgeons, attended the camp. Technicians from Sonoscan were also present, offering diagnostic support. A large number of local residents turned up to receive consultations and treatment throughout the day.

Speaking on the occasion, Press Club Secretary Pabitra Mahanta said that a series of social welfare programs have been planned throughout 2026 to commemorate the organization’s golden jubilee year. “As part of these initiatives, this special free medical camp has been organized today to serve the people of Hili,” he noted.

Among those who attended the camp was Anil Oraon, a retired central government employee, who emphasized the importance of such efforts. “More camps like this should be held,” he said. “There is a significant shortage of doctors in rural areas, and often diseases are detected late due to lack of timely medical attention.”The event highlighted both the demand for accessible healthcare in rural communities and the role of civic initiatives in addressing these gaps.
