With the state assembly elections approaching, the Election Commission’s appointed General Observer, Shri Ritesh Chauhan, conducted an on-ground inspection of several polling stations across the Balurghat Assembly constituency, including areas in Hili, to assess the level of preparedness.
During his visit, Mr.Ritesh Chauhan carefully reviewed the condition of polling booths, focusing on the availability of Assured Minimum Facilities (AMF) and the overall readiness required to ensure a smooth voting process. He emphasized strict adherence to the Election Commission’s guidelines and directed officials to ensure that all necessary arrangements are in place well ahead of polling day.
Interacting with voters, polling personnel, and other stakeholders, Mr.Ritesh Chauhan sought firsthand feedback on the preparations. He listened to concerns and suggestions from those involved and reassured them that every effort is being made to conduct the elections in a free, fair, and peaceful manner.
Officials accompanying the observer noted that such visits play a critical role in strengthening transparency and accountability in the electoral process. The inspection is part of a broader initiative to ensure that all polling stations are fully equipped and capable of handling voters efficiently on election day.
