As political tensions intensify across West Bengal, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday launched its Paribartan Yatra from the Kushmandi Assembly constituency in South Dinajpur district, calling for political change in the state.

The development comes at a time when Trinamool Congress leader and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has been staging a protest over the SIR issue, raising the political temperature across the state. Meanwhile, the BJP has begun its campaign for “change” with a statewide chariot rally that started earlier from Cooch Behar.According to party organizers, the Paribartan Yatra chariot was scheduled to reach Kushmandi at 2 p.m. on Friday but arrived nearly three hours late, around 5 p.m. Despite the delay, party workers and supporters gathered in large numbers to welcome the procession.

Among those present at the event were Khagen Murmu, Member of Parliament from North Malda, Kartik Chandra Pal, the MP from Raiganj, and BJP leader Shankar Chakraborty, who is in charge of the party’s Malda division. Also attending were district leaders and organizers of the yatra, including Nilanjan Roy.The rally was welcomed with a traditional Mukha dance performance, a cultural highlight of the region. A reception meeting was also held at Kushmandi, where party leaders addressed supporters.

From early morning, BJP workers and supporters had gathered around the venue and along the roads carrying party flags, banners, and campaign materials. The atmosphere took on a festive tone as drums and traditional instruments were played to greet the arriving chariot. A colorful procession then escorted the yatra to the meeting ground.

After concluding the gathering in Kushmandi, the Paribartan Yatra proceeded toward Buniadpur, continuing its journey across the district as part of the party’s broader political outreach in the state.
