With the West Bengal Assembly elections drawing closer, the Trinamool Congress has stepped up its preparations to reclaim the Balurghat Assembly seat, deploying senior party leader and former Member of Parliament Arpita Ghosh to oversee organizational and legal coordination in the constituency.

Ms.Arpita Ghosh, also a noted theatre personality and a familiar figure in Balurghat, has been holding a series of meetings since her arrival, reviewing party structures from the booth and ward levels to block and regional committees. On Friday, she met members of the Trinamool Congress’s legal cell at the Subarnatat auditorium of the Balurghat Municipality, underlining the party’s focus on legal preparedness ahead of the elections.

The meeting was attended by Ritabrata Chakraborty, the district president of the party’s legal cell, along with several Trinamool-affiliated lawyers from the district.
Addressing reporters after the meeting, Ms.Arpita Ghosh said that discussions centered on issues related to the SIR process, which she described as a crucial area of concern in the run-up to the polls. “If the name of any legitimate voter is excluded during the SIR process, there is a provision for appeal,” she said. “At that stage, the role of the legal cell will be extremely important. We held preliminary discussions on how to address such situations.”

She also emphasized the significance of legal professionals in an educated and culturally inclined town like Balurghat, noting that their support would be vital for the party’s electoral efforts.

As the election approaches, the Trinamool Congress appears to be simultaneously strengthening its organizational base and fine-tuning its legal strategy, signaling a more structured and methodical campaign in the Balurghat constituency.
