The Madhyamik examination began on Monday amid heightened security and an atmosphere of cautious optimism across Dakshin Dinajpur district , as students gathered from early morning outside Balurghat High School, Balurghat Girls’ High School, and other examination centers in the district.
From remote corners of South Dinajpur, examinees arrived well before schedule, moving in orderly lines into their respective halls under strict guidelines laid down by the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education. For many, it marked the first major academic test of their lives.
To ensure the smooth conduct of the examination, the district administration put in place elaborate security arrangements. Deputy Superintendent of Police (Headquarters) Bikram Prasad personally visited several examination centers, interacting with students and offering words of reassurance. Adequate traffic management was enforced around the venues, and police personnel were deployed at every examination center.
According to officials from the district school education department, all centers were fully prepared in compliance with board guidelines, with special emphasis on security, surveillance, and infrastructure. Sujay Krishna Mohanta, the District Inspector of Schools (Secondary), said that approximately 22,698 students are appearing for the Madhyamik examination in South Dinajpur this year. The district has a total of 53 examination centers, including 11 main centers overseeing 42 sub-venues.
Beyond official measures, political and social outreach also played a visible role. Across the district, the Trinamool Congress set up help desks outside several examination centers to encourage students. Bottles of drinking water, pens, and chocolates were distributed to examinees as small gestures of support.
Mofizuddin Mia, District General Secretary of the Trinamool Congress and a member of the RTO Board, said the initiative was aimed at easing the stress of students on an important day.
“This is the first major examination in the lives of these students. We wanted to ensure they face no inconvenience and feel encouraged as they step into the examination halls,” he said, wishing all candidates success in the days ahead.
With coordinated administrative vigilance and community participation, the Madhyamik examinations in South Dinajpur commenced in a secure and orderly manner, setting a calm tone for the crucial days to follow.
