A state government outreach initiative under the banner of “Swanirbhar Bangla” concluded peacefully in the border block of Hili in Dakshin Dinajpur district.

The camp, which began on Feb. 15, brought together beneficiaries from five gram panchayats across the block to apply for various government welfare schemes and complete document verification procedures. Over several days, administrative staff processed applications and assisted residents seeking to enroll in state-run programs.

According to block administration sources, the largest number of applications — 5,410 — were received under the Yuvashree Prakalpa, a scheme aimed at providing financial assistance to unemployed youth.Under the Lakshmir Bhandar initiative, which offers monthly financial support to women from eligible households, 1,085 forms were submitted. Additionally, 5,890 landless farmers and agricultural laborers applied for benefits under schemes intended to provide economic assistance and social security support.

Officials said the entire program was conducted in an orderly and disruption-free manner. To facilitate applicants, special help desks and counseling counters were set up within the camp premises, enabling residents to clarify eligibility criteria, complete documentation and receive guidance on the application process.

Many beneficiaries expressed satisfaction with the arrangements, noting that the on-site assistance simplified procedures that might otherwise have required multiple visits to government offices. The administration described the camp as part of a broader effort to expand access to welfare programs and ensure that eligible residents in rural and border areas are not left out of the state’s social support network.
