Marking Shivratri, the Loknath Mission organized a day-and-night observance at the Khadimpur Sri Sri Loknath Jyotirmoy Temple, drawing streams of devotees who carried water from the Atreyee River to pour over Lord Shiva and Loknath Baba.
Participants filled bamboo carriers with what they consider sacred river water, believing the ritual would purify their lives and invite divine strength. Offerings of milk, honey and bael leaves accompanied the ablutions, while chants and prayers created a charged devotional atmosphere across the temple grounds.
Ajay Ghosh, president of the Balurghat Loknath Mission, said the arrangements were meant to give worshipers a special opportunity to express their reverence. Throughout the day, long lines formed as families waited their turn, many describing the moment of offering as deeply personal and transformative.
Beyond ritual, organizers said the festival sought to spread the spiritual message of Loknath Baba and reinforce bonds of unity within the community.
For many, Shivratri here was not only a celebration but the beginning of a renewed spiritual journey, carried home in the belief that blessings received on the night would bring peace, strength and well-being.
