A daylong environmental awareness program titled “Ek Ped Ma ke Naam” was organized at Baram Gokulpur Junior High School under the Gangarampur North Circle, bringing together students, educators and district officials in a collective call for greener surroundings.

The initiative was held in collaboration with Mera Yuva Bharat, a national youth-focused platform that seeks to encourage volunteerism, leadership and community participation among young people. Organizers said the partnership aimed to connect school students with broader nation-building efforts while instilling responsibility toward the environment from an early age.

Organizers said the initiative aimed not only to plant trees but also to nurture awareness, hoping the lessons of the day would grow with the children in the years ahead.

Speaking at the discussion meeting, Additional District Project Officer (ADPO) Md. Ruhul Amin said, "There is no alternative to planting trees to maintain environmental balance. Just as a mother protects us, a sapling grows up to protect the earth by providing shade and oxygen."

Speaking on this matter, Sub-Inspector of Schools Jyotirmoy Sinha said, "Both trees and mothers protect us selflessly. In today's school program, every student has pledged to plant a tree in their mother's name. Our goal is not just to plant a tree, but to nurture it as a living soul. We want every educational institution to play a leading role in this green revolution."
