With the next round of elections drawing closer, the Bharatiya Janata Party on Tuesday carried out an intensive “home outreach campaign” in the Bhatpara Gram Panchayat area under the Balurghat Assembly constituency, underscoring its effort to consolidate support at the booth level. The initiative was led by local MLA Ashok Lahiri, who began the door-to-door drive around 1 p.m. Accompanied by party workers and supporters, he visited households primarily in the Santrai and Naksha booth areas, engaging residents in direct conversations.According to party leaders, the objective of the program was to strengthen public outreach and hear grievances firsthand. Dr. Lahiri spoke individually with families, listening to their concerns and discussing the benefits of various welfare schemes introduced by the central government.

Villagers and local residents expressed enthusiasm at the MLA’s visit, welcoming the opportunity to interact personally with their elected representative. For many, the interaction provided a rare forum to raise issues directly rather than through intermediaries.

Political observers note that such booth-level campaigns are often designed not only to address local concerns but also to assess organizational strength and reinforce voter relationships ahead of elections. Party sources indicated that evaluating grassroots mobilization and ensuring closer engagement with constituents were central aims of Tuesday’s outreach. As campaigning gradually intensifies across the district, the doorstep initiative in Bhatpara signals a broader strategy: combining welfare messaging with personalized contact to deepen the party’s presence in rural Bengal.
