A community-led blood donation camp was organized on Sunday morning in Bishwaspara of Balurghat, highlighting a message often repeated by volunteers and organizers alike: “Blood donation is a noble donation.”The camp began at 10 a.m. at the district office of the Patanjali Yog Samiti and was jointly organized by Patanjali Yog Samiti, Bharat Swabhiman Nyas, the women’s wing of Patanjali Yog Samiti, Yuva Bharat and Kisan Seva Samiti.

Organizers set a target of collecting blood from 50 donors during the camp. By about 1:30 p.m., 40 people had already donated, including 10 women — a level of participation that volunteers described as encouraging and significant for the community.“This is not just about saving lives through blood donation,” said Asit Roy, the district in-charge of Patanjali Yog Samiti. “It is also about fulfilling a social responsibility and spreading the message of unity, cooperation and humanity in society.”

Local organizers said the drive was part of ongoing efforts to raise awareness about voluntary blood donation and to encourage more residents to take part in such humanitarian initiatives in the district.
