The youth wing(Yuva Morcha) of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in West Bengal’s South Dinajpur district on Sunday launched a street-level campaign under the banner “Chakri Chay Bangla” (Bengal Wants Jobs), intensifying its criticism of the state government over unemployment.
Carrying the slogan “We Want Recruitment, That’s Why BJP,” members of the BJP Yuva Morcha organized demonstrations across the district, accusing the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) of failing to create employment opportunities for young people over the past decade.
Speaking at the event, the district president of the BJP Yuva Morcha said that since the TMC came to power in 2011, job prospects for the youth across West Bengal have steadily declined. The prolonged lack of recruitment, he claimed, has pushed a large section of the state’s youth into frustration and uncertainty.
As part of the campaign, the youth wing has begun a mass signature drive to demand immediate and transparent recruitment. Organizers said the collected signatures would be submitted to Nabanna, the state’s administrative headquarters, in an effort to pressure the government into initiating job appointments.
Participants in the program alleged that the state government has repeatedly failed to address unemployment and called for swift action to ensure fair and corruption-free recruitment processes.
The campaign reflects the BJP’s broader strategy of foregrounding unemployment as a key political issue in West Bengal, particularly among first-time voters and job-seeking graduates, as the party seeks to expand its influence in the state.
