Birth anniversary of the great monk Swami Vivekananda

On the occasion of the birth anniversary of the great monk Swami Vivekananda, observed across the country as National Youth Day, the Dakshin Dinajpur District unit of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) organised a marathon race in Balurghat on Monday to inspire youth with the ideals of the legendary philosopher.
The programme began with floral tributes and garlanding of Swami Vivekananda’s statue at Hili More, Balurghat. The marathon was ceremonially flagged off by Dakshin Dinajpur District BJP General Secretary Bapi Sarkar, in the presence of District Yuva Morcha President Shubho Chakraborty and other senior leaders.
The marathon covered a distance of 7 kilometres, starting from the base of Swami Vivekananda’s statue at Hili More, circling the Balurghat town, and concluding at the same point. Nearly 150 participants took part in the event with great enthusiasm.Among those present at the programme were former District BJP President Binay Kumar Barman, BJP leader Ajay Sarkar, and several other party leaders and workers.
Speaking on the occasion, Shubho Chakraborty, District President of BJP Yuva Morcha, said that the marathon was organised to motivate the youth to follow the ideals and philosophy of Swami Vivekananda. He added that every participant was felicitated to encourage their involvement and commitment.
“Our aim is to inspire the youth to walk on the path shown by Swami Vivekananda and imbibe his thoughts of strength, discipline, and service to the nation,” Chakraborty said.
The event witnessed active participation from the youth and reflected the spirit of National Youth Day through fitness, discipline, and inspiration.
