75 Years of Sporting Spirit: Netaji Sporting Club Paints Balurghat in Celebration

Carrying forward a rich legacy of sports and culture, Balurghat’s Netaji Sporting Club marked a proud milestone as it stepped into its 75th year. To commemorate the historic occasion, a grand colourful procession was organised on Sunday afternoon, starting from Dipali Nagar Maidan. Club members, former and present sportspersons, along with a large number of well-wishers, took part in the rally, which marched through various streets of the town.

The procession vividly showcased the club’s 75-year journey of sporting excellence, cultural activities and social contributions through creative tableaux. Following the rally, the celebrations concluded at Deepali Nagar Maidan with a spectacular fireworks display, adding further vibrancy to the occasion.

On the occasion of its 75th anniversary, Netaji Sporting Club has planned a year-long series of sports events, cultural programmes and social welfare initiatives. Club President Mriganka Sarkar stated that, alongside sporting activities, the club will organise cancer detection camps, extend support for higher education to underprivileged meritorious students, and provide free surgical assistance for cancer treatment, especially for women.

With its commitment to building society through sports, the 75th anniversary of Netaji Sporting Club has become a moment of pride and celebration for the people of Balurghat.
