Strengthening Democracy: National Voters’ Day Celebrated Across Dakshin Dinajpur

National Voters’ Day was observed with due solemnity and civic spirit in Dakshin Dinajpur district on Sunday, as the district administration organized a special program at the government conference hall in Baluchha, Balurghat.
The event was attended by the District Magistrate of Dakshin Dinajpur- Balasubhramanian T, Balurghat Sub-Divisional Officer Subrata Kumar Barman, Additional District Magistrate Shubhojit Mondal, along with other senior administrative officials and distinguished guests.
Marking the occasion, the administration arranged a series of competitions aimed at encouraging civic awareness among students. A chess tournament, featuring participation from students of various schools in Balurghat town, drew particular attention.
Essay writing, debate and drawing competitions were also held as part of the celebrations.According to officials, winners securing first, second and third positions in the various competitions will be felicitated at the conclusion of the program.
The primary objective of observing National Voters’ Day, officials said, was to promote awareness among the younger generation about the importance of voting rights and the values of democracy.
Regarding this matter, the District Magistrate of South Dinajpur, Balasubramanian T., stated, "Our primary objective is to raise awareness among voters, facilitate enrollment in the electoral roll, and inform the general public about their voting rights. This day is essentially celebrated to encourage new voters to participate in the democratic process."
