The Balurghat unit of the Bengal Chemist and Druggist Association (BCDA) on Sunday organized its 23rd annual voluntary social service program at the Balurghat Natya Mandir, continuing a tradition of community welfare that has spanned more than two decades.
According to the organizers, nearly 500 people are expected to benefit from this year’s initiative, which focuses on providing assistance through voluntary and charitable services. The annual program has become a significant event in the local social calendar, drawing participation from BCDA members and residents alike.
In addition to the main welfare activities, a series of cultural and educational events have been underway since Saturday. These include an art competition and other programs aimed at encouraging community engagement, particularly among children and young participants.
Speaking on the occasion, Sanjay Kumar Saha, Secretary of the BCDA Balurghat Zone, said that the association remains committed to social responsibility alongside its professional role. “Every year we try to expand the reach of this program so that more people can benefit from our collective effort,” he said. The organizers noted that the continuation of the event for the 23rd consecutive year reflects the association’s sustained dedication to public service and community development in the region.
