The incident took place around 12:30 p.m. in the Fulbari area under Gangarampur police station limits. According to local sources, the shop belongs to Arun Majumdar, a resident of Fulbari, whose jewelry store is located near the bus stand — a typically busy part of the town.

Mr. Majumdar had opened his shop as usual in the morning and was waiting for customers when two men arrived, posing as buyers. A large contingent of police reached the spot soon after and launched an investigation. Officers are conducting search operations in the area and reviewing footage from nearby closed-circuit television cameras to identify the suspects.

The daylight nature of the crime has caused widespread alarm. Soon after the incident, local residents gathered outside the shop, while members of the business community expressed anxiety over security in the area.Police officials said efforts are underway to trace the accused and recover the stolen valuables, as the town grapples with the unsettling reminder of how vulnerable even busy marketplaces can be in the middle of the day.
