The Left Front on Wednesday staged a protest march in Gangarampur town to denounce what it described as U.S. imperialist aggression against Venezuela and an alleged conspiracy to abduct the country’s President, Nicolás Maduro. The march began around 5 p.m. from in front of the Shopping Plaza in Gangarampur and proceeded through key areas of the town, including the Gangarampur bus stand, Dattapara, Basakpara More, New Market, Thana More and the Bhratri Sporting Club area, before concluding at the CPI(M) party office at Chaupati.
Participants raised slogans against the foreign policy of the United States and voiced strong support for Venezuela’s sovereignty. Speakers at the rally accused the U.S. of interfering in the internal affairs of various countries, saying such actions undermine democracy and violate human rights.“The conspiracy against the elected President of Venezuela is a blatant violation of international law,” speakers said, adding that external intervention in sovereign nations could not be justified in the name of democracy.
