Camp Held to Tackle Acute Blood Shortage

An acute shortage of blood has emerged in South Dinajpur district, raising serious concern among healthcare providers and voluntary organisations. In an effort to address this crisis, a voluntary blood donation camp was organised on Monday, December 22, with the cooperation of the South Dinajpur Voluntary Blood Donors Forum and under the management and supervision of the Patiram Jhapusi Amra Kojon Club.The camp was formally inaugurated by Sushanta Kundu, General Secretary of the South Dinajpur Voluntary Blood Donors Forum, who emphasised the importance of voluntary blood donation in saving lives and meeting emergency medical needs. He appreciated the initiative taken by local organisations in coming forward during a critical period of shortage.

Shubho Sarkar, Secretary of the Amra Kojon Club, along with other club members, was present at the event and actively participated in its organisation. Their efforts ensured the smooth conduct of the camp and encouraged local residents to contribute to the humanitarian cause.A total of 20 people, including one woman, voluntarily donated blood at the camp. Organisers expressed hope that such initiatives would inspire more people to come forward and help strengthen the district’s blood supply.The organisers reiterated their commitment to continuing awareness campaigns and blood donation drives in the future to prevent similar crises and to support patients in need across South Dinajpur district.
