MLA Lahiri Leads Demonstration

Widespread outrage swept through the border town of Balurghat on Monday following the brutal killing of Dipu Chandra Das in Bangladesh. In protest against the killing , a massive demonstration march was organised on Monday afternoon in the Balupara area of Hili at the call of the Hili Mandal.The protest saw the participation of over a hundred residents and was led by Balurghat MLA Dr Ashok Kumar Lahiri, who strongly condemned the gruesome murder. Dipu Chandra Das was allegedly hacked to death a day earlier in Bangladesh by unidentified assailants.

The incident has triggered tension across the border region . Protesters raised slogans such as “Arrest the killers of Dipu Chandra Das,” “We demand justice,” and “Strengthen border security,” as the march proceeded from Balupara crossing to the nearby market area.Addressing the gathering, Dr Lahiri stated, “We will not tolerate the brutal murder of an innocent man like Dipu Chandra Das. We demand an immediate and transparent investigation from the Bangladesh government, and if justice is delayed, we will be compelled to launch more intense movements."
