Balurghat in West Bengal’s Dakshin Dinajpur district is set to witness a historic event as the Indian Army organizes a large-scale military exhibition titled “Strong Army, Prosperous India” on December 21 and 22 at Balurghat Stadium. The initiative is being spearheaded by Union Minister and Balurghat Member of Parliament Dr. Sukanta Majumdar, in collaboration with the Additional Directorate General of Public Information (ADGPI), Indian Army Eastern Command.
Dr. Sukanta Majumdar, Hon’ble Minister of State for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) and Education, Government of India, will grace the occasion as the Chief Guest. His leadership has been instrumental in bringing this prestigious Indian Army outreach programme to Dakshin Dinajpur, marking a historic first for the district. Dr. Sukanta Majumdar has played a pivotal role in bringing this prestigious event to Balurghat, making it the first-ever Indian Army exhibition of its kind in North Bengal. Under his leadership, the programme aims to connect the armed forces directly with the public, especially the youth of the region.
Speaking on the objective of the event, Dr. Majumdar stated that the core purpose of the exhibition is to showcase how strong and modern the Indian Army has become under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He emphasized that the event is also meant to inspire young citizens to consider a career in the armed forces and dedicate themselves to the service of the nation.
The exhibition will feature a wide range of modern weapons and military equipment used by the Indian Army, including arms deployed in key military operations such as Operation Sindoor. A massive Indian Army convoy carrying advanced weaponry has already arrived in Balurghat, generating widespread excitement and curiosity among local residents.With strong public interest and enthusiastic participation expected, the event stands as a significant achievement for the region. Dr. Sukanta Majumdar’s initiative has not only brought national attention to Balurghat but has also strengthened the bond between civilians and the Indian Army, reinforcing the message of patriotism, national security, and youth empowerment.
