At a time of heightened sensitivity along the Indo-Bangladesh border and amid provocative statements targeting India’s northeastern region, the Indian Army delivered a strong message of preparedness, unity and national resolve through a grand military display in Balurghat, South Dinajpur. Located just a few kilometres from the international border, Balurghat hosted the two-day military exhibition and outreach programme “Sashakt Sena Samriddh Bharat–2025 (SSSB-2025)” on December 21 and 22 at the Balurghat Stadium.The event was inaugurated in the august presence of Hon’ble MP and Union Minister Dr. Sukanta Majumdar, Lieutenant General Yash Ahlawat, General Officer Commanding, Brahmastra Corps, and Major General V. K. Jagtap, General Officer Commanding, Trinetra Division, along with senior Indian Army officials, district administration officers and prominent civil dignitaries.


The opening day witnessed an impressive showcase of modern military equipment and advanced weapon systems, including the 155 mm NAGRA artillery gun, L-70 Air Defence radar system, and 130 mm M-46 field gun. Cutting-edge technologies such as drones, robotic dogs, and modern surveillance systems were also displayed, underlining the Indian Army’s technological edge and operational readiness to safeguard the nation’s borders.Beyond military hardware, the programme highlighted the Army’s rich heritage and human spirit. Cultural performances by soldiers from the Kumaon, Gorkha and Maratha Regiments, energetic Bhangra dances, precision combat drills, a military band display and Army dog squad demonstrations captivated the audience. Interactive sessions at the Knowledge Corner and special interactions with NCC cadets and school students aimed to inspire young minds and instil a sense of patriotism and awareness about the Armed Forces.

Addressing the gathering, Union Minister Dr. Sukanta Majumdar said,“This programme reflects the strength, discipline and dedication of our Armed Forces. It also sends a clear message to the youth of the country that serving the nation through the Army is a matter of pride and honour.”The event witnessed overwhelming participation from residents of Balurghat and surrounding border and hilly areas, reflecting the deep bond between the Indian Army and the people. Organised by the Brahmastra Corps, SSSB-2025 reinforced the theme of civil–military cooperation, national integration and nation-building.The successful inauguration of Sashakt Sena Samriddh Bharat–2025 not only showcased India’s military strength but also ignited a powerful sense of national pride, confidence and unity, reaffirming the Indian Army’s unwavering commitment to protect the sovereignty and integrity of the nation.
