In a major initiative to deliver government services directly to the doorsteps of the tribal community, the South Dinajpur district administration has launched a special outreach campaign titled "Jan Bhagidari - Sabse Door, Sabse Pehle". District Magistrate Balasubramanian T. officially inaugurated the program at a ceremony held at the Atreyee Conference Hall in Balurghat.
Planned by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India, this Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) campaign aims to ensure 100 percent penetration of government welfare schemes in tribal-dominated areas. This intensive public outreach program will continue to operate across every corner of the district until May 25.
According to district administration sources, the seven-day campaign will cover a total of 213 villages across all eight blocks of South Dinajpur. To execute the drive effectively, the administration has identified 101 specific locations where special 'Saturation Camps' will be organized. The primary objective of these camps is to bring every eligible person under the coverage of welfare schemes and directly address their grievances.
Speaking to journalists after the inauguration, District Magistrate Balasubramanian T. said that the main goal of the initiative is to raise awareness among the marginalized communities. He stated that government officials will visit the designated 213 tribal villages over the next seven days to interact directly with the residents and ensure service delivery through the 101 camps, keeping a focus on grassroots development.
The administration highlighted that the campaign will actively promote various Central and State government schemes designed for tribal welfare. Officials observed that a lack of awareness often prevents eligible individuals from applying for benefits. By bridging this communication gap and providing direct field-level services, the administration expects to pave the way for sustainable social development in the district.
The inaugural event was also attended by Megphon Dhendup Lama, District Officer of the Backward Classes Welfare and Tribal Development Department, and Soham Choudhury, Block Development Officer of Balurghat, along with other senior administrative officials and public representatives.
