Dr. Sukanta Majumdar, Minister of State in the Government of India and Member of Parliament from the Balurghat Lok Sabha constituency, held a key administrative meeting with district officials in South Dinajpur on Tuesday to review development priorities and discuss a range of pressing governance issues.
The meeting took place at the office of the District Magistrate in South Dinajpur, where District Magistrate Bala Subramanian T. and Superintendent of Police Chinmoy Mittal were present. Officials discussed the progress of developmental projects, administrative performance, law-and-order concerns and other matters of district governance, according to sources.The implementation of various flagship programs of the central government was also reviewed, with an emphasis on ensuring timely and effective execution, sources familiar with the discussions said.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Dr. Majumdar said, “This is my first administrative meeting with the district administration after the formation of a double-engine government,” referring to political alignment between the state and central administrations. He added that particular emphasis had been placed on coordination between the central government and district authorities to accelerate overall development in the district.
The meeting has drawn attention within administrative circles, underscoring its significance for South Dinajpur’s development agenda. Officials and observers suggested that similar review meetings may continue in the future to strengthen coordination and expedite developmental work across the district.
