India’s Defense Minister Leads Show of Strength at Campaign Rally in Kumarganj

Rajnath Singh, India’s defense minister, drew large crowds on Wednesday as he led a high-profile campaign rally in support of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Shubhendu Sarkar in the Kumarganj Assembly constituency of South Dinajpur district.The rally stretched for nearly two kilometers, from Mahipur to the Kumarganj petrol pump, transforming the otherwise quiet rural block into a scene of intense political activity. Party workers and supporters gathered in large numbers from early morning, while local residents lined both sides of the road, many waiting for hours for a glimpse of the senior leader.



Mr.Rajnath Singh arrived around 1 p.m. by helicopter, landing at a temporary helipad set up at Holahar ground. Security across the area was tightened considerably, with personnel from the National Security Guard (NSG), paramilitary forces, and state police deployed to ensure a secure environment.Throughout the rally, the air was filled with slogans, party flags, and banners, as supporters turned out in what local leaders described as a “sea of people.” The scale of participation underscored the significance of the event in the run-up to the elections.

Following the rally, Mr.Rajnath Singh delivered a brief address at the Kumarganj bus stand, reiterating the party’s commitment to development and appealing to voters for their support.Political observers view such demonstrations of strength as strategically important ahead of elections, signaling organizational capacity and voter mobilization. Local BJP leaders expressed confidence that the rally would further consolidate the party’s position in the Kumarganj constituency and positively influence the upcoming electoral outcome.
