Around 50 young, first-time voters from the Kamarpara area of Balurghat formally joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at a district-level event on Tuesday, in what party leaders described as a sign of growing youth support ahead of upcoming elections.
The induction ceremony took place at the BJP’s South Dinajpur district office, where the new members were welcomed by Dr.Sukanta Majumdar, a Union Minister of State and the party’s Member of Parliament from the Balurghat constituency. He handed over party flags to the recruits in the presence of local leadership.
Among those attending were district general secretary Bapi Sarkar and BJP’s nominated candidate for the Balurghat Assembly seat, Bidyut Kumar Roy, a lawyer and social worker. Several other district and mandal-level leaders were also present.The newly joined members said they were motivated by the development initiatives of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Dr.Sukanta Majumdar’s work as a parliamentarian. They expressed a desire to contribute to local development and address employment concerns among youth in the area.
Dr. Majumdar, addressing the gathering, said the participation of new voters reflected increasing confidence in the party’s leadership. He added that a “double-engine government” would accelerate development in Balurghat.Mr.Bidyut Kumar Roy described the induction as a strengthening of the party’s grassroots organization and urged collective efforts to secure victory in the constituency.Party sources claimed that such initiatives, particularly ahead of elections, would further consolidate the BJP’s organizational base in the Balurghat Assembly segment.
