Math Seminar and Awards Ceremony Spotlight Academic Excellence in Balurghat

A seminar dedicated to strengthening mathematics education, along with a district-level awards ceremony, was held on Monday at Nalanda Vidyapith High School in Balurghat.The event, organized by the Center for Pedagogical Studies in Mathematics (CPSM), began at 11 a.m. in one of the school’s classrooms. It focused on improving the quality of mathematics teaching and fostering greater interest in the subject among students. District-level winners of ADTM and PTEEM-2025 examinations were also felicitated during the program.

Among those present were Banibrata Mukhopadhyay, Education Officer of Dakshin Dinajpur; Dr. Ahsanul Karim, District Education Officer (SSM); and several other distinguished guests. Special invitees included Dr. Nabakumar Das, President of Balurghat B.Ed College; Prashanta Dhair, Professor of Mathematics at Balurghat College; Dr. Ashish Kumar Das, former Principal and former Associate Professor of Mathematics at Balurghat College; and Deepak Mondal, Founder-Coordinator of the Education Institute(Siksha).

Speakers emphasized the importance of mathematics in academic development and discussed strategies to cultivate a deeper appreciation for the subject among students. The seminar also featured deliberations on enhancing teachers’ professional skills and strengthening the overall standard of education through effective mathematics instruction.

The program concluded successfully, with attendees praising CPSM’s initiative. Soumit Das, Headmaster of Nalanda Vidyapith High School, and Narayan Bhattacharya, Joint Secretary of CPSM, played key roles in organizing the event.Organizers expressed hope that such initiatives would significantly contribute to improving educational standards and inspiring students to develop a lasting interest in mathematics.
