In South Dinajpur, Officials Stress Security and Accessibility Ahead of Polls

Even as election preparations intensify across South Dinajpur, authorities have reported no major seizures of unaccounted cash since the announcement of the polls. However, four firearms have been confiscated as part of ongoing security measures, District Magistrate T. Subramaniam said on Friday.

Speaking at a press conference in Balurghat, Mr. Subramaniam emphasized that comprehensive steps have been taken in line with Election Commission directives to ensure free and peaceful voting. Law enforcement agencies, he noted, remain vigilant to prevent any disruption during the electoral process.

Special arrangements have also been made to assist elderly voters, with approximately 5,700 senior citizens expected to benefit from dedicated facilities aimed at easing their participation.Officials added that individuals whose names are missing from the voter list can still apply for inclusion through designated mobile applications or by contacting local administrative offices.The administration reiterated its commitment to conducting a smooth and inclusive election, with a focus on both security and voter accessibility.
