Amid an ongoing blood shortage in the district, a voluntary blood donation camp was organized at the Balurghat Hospital Blood Center by the Dakshin Dinajpur Voluntary Blood Donors Forum. The initiative aimed to address the immediate demand for blood while encouraging new donors to come forward.
The camp was inaugurated by the forum’s General Secretary, Sushanta Kundu. Among those present were in-house camp in-charge Soma Kundu, health worker Mousumi Sarkar, Medical Officer-in-Charge of Balurghat Blood Center Dr. Debabrata De, and Councillor Margu Hossain.
A total of 18 individuals, including two women, donated blood during the camp. Notably, eight of them were first-time donors, marking a significant step toward building a sustainable donor base in the region.Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Kundu emphasized that such initiatives play a crucial role in addressing blood shortages and inspiring more people to donate.The event received positive responses from attendees, highlighting the need for continued efforts to promote voluntary blood donation and ensure adequate supply for patients in need.
