In an effort to combat human trafficking and child marriage, an awareness camp was organized at Manikore Adivasi High School in the Hili block of Dakshin Dinajpur district. The initiative was led by the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit of the Border Security Force (BSF), Hili Border Outpost, in collaboration with Ujjiban Society.
The session focused on educating students about the dangers of child trafficking, the harmful consequences of child marriage, misuse of mobile phones, and the negative impact of social media. Speakers elaborated on these issues with real-life examples, urging students to remain vigilant.
BSF officials Hanuta Ram and Sujoy Halder, along with child protection worker Suraj Das, addressed the gathering. They emphasized that awareness and courage are key to preventing such social evils.
Students also took a pledge, led by the school’s Kanyashree Club, to actively oppose child marriage in their communities. Acting Headmaster Pratik Ram Mondal stated that similar initiatives will continue to ensure the safety and well-being of children in underprivileged areas.
