Ahead of 2026 Assembly Elections, 50 Families Join BJP in Balurghat

With the 2026 West Bengal Legislative Assembly election approaching, political activity across the district is steadily intensifying. On Wednesday, around 50 families from the Balurghat and Tapan areas joined the Bharatiya Janata Party during a joining program held at the party’s district office in Balurghat.

According to district party president Swarup Chowdhury, the families expressed confidence in the party’s policies and development agenda before formally joining the organization. He noted that a significant number of those who joined were women, which he said would strengthen the party’s grassroots presence in the district.

Party sources indicated that such outreach and membership drives are being organized to consolidate the organization ahead of the upcoming state assembly elections. District leaders also expressed optimism that more residents from different parts of the region would join the party in the coming months.During the event, local leaders welcomed the new members by handing them party flags. Several district- and local-level leaders of the BJP were present at the program.
