A vibrant religious procession on Thursday evening transformed the small town of Patiram in South Dinajpur district into a scene of celebration and unity, as hundreds gathered to mark the festival of Ram Navami.
Organized by a local community group, the procession drew large crowds from across the area. Devotees began assembling in the afternoon, and by evening the streets were filled with participants carrying saffron flags, accompanied by decorated chariots, drum beats, and live band performances.
As the procession wound its way through key roads in the town, chants in praise of Lord Rama echoed through the air. People of all ages, including women and children, joined in the festivities, creating an atmosphere that was both devotional and communal harmony.Beyond its religious significance, the event also stood out as a display of social harmony. Volunteers helped maintain order throughout the procession, while security forces, including central personnel, were deployed to ensure safety.
Sahil Sarkar, speaking on behalf of the organizers, said the celebration was held with due reverence, continuing a long-standing tradition. He noted that the enthusiastic participation of residents had been encouraging and expressed plans to expand the scale of the event in the coming years.The procession concluded peacefully, leaving behind a sense of shared celebration and cultural pride among attendees.
