Trinamool Congress Forms Minority Cell Committee in Banshihari Block Ahead of 2026 Polls

The Trinamool Congress on Thursday announced the formation of a new Minority Cell committee for the Banshihari block of Dakshin Dinajpur district, as the party intensifies its organizational efforts ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections.



The committee was constituted at an organizational meeting held at the Buniyadpur, followed by a press conference at the Trinamool Congress party office in Buniyadpur town later in the evening. Party leaders said the move was aimed at strengthening the party’s grassroots presence and consolidating support among minority communities in the region.



The event began with a formal welcome of the guests, who were felicitated with traditional scarves. Senior leaders said the new committee includes several fresh faces and is expected to play a key role in expanding the party’s reach and reinforcing its organizational structure at the block level.


The committee was formed under the direction of State Minister Biplab Mitra and Dakshin Dinajpur district Trinamool Congress president Subhash Bhowal. Among those present at the event were Mr. Bhowal; Mahabur Rahman Sarkar, district president of the Trinamool Congress Minority Cell; Abul Kalam Chowdhury, vice president of the district Minority Cell; Partha Pratim Majumdar, Banshihari block president of the Trinamool Congress; and Altabur Rahman, president of the Banshihari block Minority Cell, along with several party workers and supporters.

Addressing the gathering, Mr.Subhash Bhowal and Mr.Mahabur Rahaman  Sarkar said the party’s objective was to ensure that minority voters in the Banshihari block remain aligned with the Trinamool Congress in the 2026 elections. “Through organizational strengthening and active engagement, we want to further solidify the party and take it forward,” they said.
