Seeking to sharpen its outreach ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections, local leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party on Tuesday held a public engagement program in the town of Gangarampur in Dakshin Dinajpur district, speaking directly with residents about their concerns and expectations.
The initiative brought party representatives face to face with passersby, shopkeepers and community members, in what leaders described as an effort to listen closely to everyday grievances and incorporate public opinion into future political planning.

Conversations centered on issues including employment, development, education, health care and broader administrative matters. Party officials said the goal of the program was to place citizens’ voices at the center of policymaking and to shape an agenda responsive to local needs.

Among those present was Swarup Chowdhury, the president of the Dakshin Dinajpur district unit of the BJP. He was joined by Brindaban Ghosh and several district- and mandal-level leaders and workers. Participants interacted with residents, heard accounts of local challenges and reiterated their commitment to working in the interest of the public.
Political observers said the event underscored the party’s attempt to project an image of accessibility and grassroots engagement as it prepares for the electoral contest ahead.
