Balurghat, West Bengal,January 6 — Balurghat Nalanda Vidyapith High School has been transformed into a crucible of intellectual engagement and civic consciousness as it observes “Student Week – 2026”, a weeklong academic and social initiative jointly organized by the Dakshin Dinajpur District Sarva Shiksha Mission and the Department of School Education. The programme commenced on January 2 and will culminate on January 8, encompassing a series of meticulously curated activities aimed at holistic student development.



On Tuesday, January 6, the fourth day of the observance, the school premises resonated with creative fervor as students participated in an art competition, showcasing aesthetic imagination alongside disciplined craftsmanship. The day was further distinguished by an interactive discussion session held in the august presence of Amulya Ratan Biswas, a Hili-based eminent social worker and recipient of the prestigious Banga Ratna honor. Addressing the students, Mr. Biswas underscored the imperatives of moral rectitude, social responsibility, and enlightened citizenship in contemporary India.


The Headmaster of the institution, Soumit Das, elaborated on the structured progression of the week’s events. On the inaugural day, newly promoted students across various grades were felicitated with textbook distributions and certificates, symbolizing academic advancement and institutional encouragement, in the presence of the entire teaching faculty.The second day witnessed a public awareness rally organized by the school, focusing on the deleterious consequences of tobacco consumption, reflecting the administration’s commitment to public health advocacy and preventive education.



On the third day, an erudite seminar was convened on the Consumer Protection Act, 2019, with special emphasis on consumer rights and legal awareness. The session was addressed by Prasun Samajdar, the teacher-in-charge of the school’s Consumer Club, and was attended by several hundred students and faculty members, marking a significant stride toward legal literacy among adolescents.The programme will continue with a quiz competition on the fifth day, fostering analytical acumen and competitive spirit among students. The sixth day is slated to include the distribution of supplementary academic materials and science books to underprivileged students, reinforcing the institution’s ethos of inclusivity and educational equity.


Through Student Week – 2026, Balurghat Nalanda Vidyapith High School has reaffirmed its role not merely as a center of formal instruction, but as a formative space for nurturing socially conscious, intellectually robust, and ethically grounded citizens—an endeavor that echoes the broader aspirations of India’s educational renaissance.
