The Diamond Jubilee celebrations of Patiram Vivekananda High School for Girls unfolded on Friday evening with pageantry, pride and an unexpected moment of delight, as Deputy Superintendent of Police (Headquarters) Bikram Prasad took to the stage and sang, electrifying the audience.
Marking sixty years of the institution’s educational journey, the school campus was transformed into a festive arena, drawing students, teachers, parents and prominent local residents. The celebrations featured an art exhibition showcasing students’ creations, a vibrant floral display and a cultural program that blended performances by current students with those of invited artists.
While the evening included a series of polished musical, dance and recitation performances, it was Mr.Bikram Prasad’s spontaneous musical appearance that became the defining moment of the event. Invited as a special guest, the senior police officer responded to enthusiastic requests from students and members of the audience by stepping onto the stage and beginning to sing. Within moments, the atmosphere shifted from formal celebration to collective joy, as students clapped, sang along and danced to the rhythm.
The sight of a high-ranking police official performing with such ease and warmth drew widespread applause and admiration. Many in attendance described the moment as disarming and deeply memorable, blurring the usual boundaries between authority and artistry.
School authorities later said that the performance added a rare and human touch to the jubilee celebrations, enhancing the emotional resonance of the occasion. As the school reflected on six decades of academic and cultural legacy, the evening stood out not only as a tribute to the past, but as a reminder of the power of shared moments to inspire and connect across roles and generations.
