Dishari Club & Library ushered in the English New Year 2026 with a noble initiative, organizing Naranarayan Seva and a winter clothing distribution program on the first day of the year 2026 as part of the traditional Kalpataru Festival.
Continuing its long-standing tradition, the club arranged a community lunch for around 175 underprivileged people at the club premises. Chairs and tables were neatly arranged to ensure a dignified dining experience for all attendees. The lunch menu included steamed rice, matar–korola dal, cabbage curry, cauliflower–paneer curry, followed by chutney and sweets as dessert. Local residents actively participated in the programme, adding to the spirit of community bonding. Among them was Bablu Ganguly, a neighborhood resident who has been extending his support to this initiative every year to the best of his ability. After the meal, blankets and sarees were distributed as winter relief items. Beneficiaries such as Komoli Mahato and Giribala Sarkar expressed their heartfelt gratitude, blessing the organizers with raised hands after receiving the food and warm clothing.Speaking on behalf of the club, President Shilajit Choudhury and Secretary Kaushik Chakraborty said,“We take up this initiative every year. Celebrating the first day of the New Year in this manner, as part of the Kalpataru Festival, gives us immense satisfaction. We are committed to continuing this tradition in the years to come.”
The initiative once again highlighted Dishari Club & Library’s dedication to social responsibility, compassion, and inclusive celebration—setting a meaningful tone for the New Year.
