Nalanda Vidyapith High School in Balurghat emerged as a vibrant hub of civic consciousness on Sunday as National Youth Day 2026 was observed to commemorate the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, one of India’s foremost architects of spiritual nationalism. The program was jointly organized by Mera Yuva Bharat (MY Bharat), South Dinajpur, under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, and the school’s NSS unit. The event witnessed the participation of teachers, hundreds of students and local residents, underscoring a collective commitment to youth empowerment and national values.
“Swami Vivekananda was the vanguard of India’s national awakening,” Mr.Soumit Das said. “At a time when the nation was humiliated and fragmented, he dedicated his life to restoring its identity, self-respect and moral backbone. Observing his birth anniversary in this manner is a humble tribute to that extraordinary legacy.”
Organizers emphasized that the celebration was not merely ceremonial but pedagogical in spirit, aimed at instilling Vivekananda’s ideals of fearless inquiry, inner strength and service-oriented living among students. As the day concluded and Balurghat returned to its everyday rhythm, the message of the occasion remained unmistakable: the responsibility of national renewal, as Vivekananda envisioned, rests squarely on the shoulders of the youth—and begins with character, conviction and purpose.
