Draft Electoral Roll for 2026 Published in Dakshin Dinajpur, Over 80,000 Names Deleted

The Dakshin Dinajpur district administration has published the draft electoral roll for 2026 following the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list. The draft roll was released on Tuesday during an all-party meeting held at the Atreyee Conference Hall of the district administration. Copies of the draft voter list were handed over to representatives of all political parties present at the meeting.


After the meeting, District Magistrate Bala Subramanian T. addressed a press conference at the district administrative building. He informed that across West Bengal, out of a total of 7,66,37,529 voters, 7,08,16,630 voters have submitted their enumeration forms, while around 58,20,929 voters are yet to do so.In Dakshin Dinajpur district, the total number of voters earlier stood at 13,31,548. During the SIR process, enumeration forms were submitted by 12,50,564 voters. As a result, a total of 80,984 names have been deleted from the draft electoral roll.According to the District Magistrate, among the deleted names, 43,358 voters were found to be deceased, 36,303 voters had migrated or could not be traced, and 1,323 names were identified as duplicate voters.




The District Magistrate further stated that "the next stages, including hearings, correction of errors and inclusion or exclusion claims, will be carried out as per the guidelines of the Election Commission. Detailed information regarding these procedures will be shared once official instructions are received."
