Birth Anniversary of Tribal Freedom Fighter Jit Ram Bedia

The 223rd birth anniversary of eminent tribal freedom fighter Jit Ram Bedia was commemorated through a vibrant programme organised by the Bedia Social Committee in Balurghat block of Dakshin Dinajpur district. The event was held at the premises of Dolla Primary School and witnessed enthusiastic participation from members of the tribal community and local residents.The programme was attended by Ashok Krishna Kujur, member of the Dakshin Dinajpur Zilla Parishad, and noted tribal social worker and Tribal Development Board member Bacchu Ram Pahan, along with other dignitaries.
The celebrations began with a rally organised to pay tribute to Jit Ram Bedia, followed by a traditional welcome of the guests in accordance with indigenous customs. The formal inauguration took place with the lighting of lamps.Youth from the Bedia community later performed traditional dances reflecting their rich cultural heritage. Organisers stated that various cultural programmes were arranged throughout the day as part of the birth anniversary celebrations.
Speaking on the occasion, organiser Ganesh Chandra Mahato highlighted the importance of remembering the contributions of tribal freedom fighters like Jit Ram Bedia. Zilla Parishad member Ashok Krishna Kujur also emphasised the need to preserve and promote tribal history and culture.The event served as a reminder of the legacy of Jit Ram Bedia and showcased the vibrant traditions of the indigenous communities of the region.
