In a significant achievement for the district Dakshin Dinajpur, the District police have successfully secured convictions in nine major cases between November 29 and December 8. These cases had been pending before the court for a long period, but a series of strategic measures undertaken by the district police and prosecution helped expedite the judicial process.
Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday afternoon at the District Superintendent of Police, SP Chinmay Mittal (IPS) shared details of the success in the presence of Public Prosecutor Ritabrata Chakraborty and the investigating officers of the respective cases. He emphasized that this achievement was the result of coordinated efforts, improved monitoring, and timely action.One of the major breakthroughs came from the effective use of video conferencing, which resolved longstanding challenges related to witness appearance and testimony recording. While the physical production of accused persons had previously been possible, delays in witness examination often slowed proceedings. Video conferencing greatly improved the efficiency of the process, the SP stated.The district police also introduced time-bound monitoring of important cases, ensuring that key matters received focused attention. SP Chinmoy Mittal further added that efforts are underway to continue this momentum and secure quicker convictions in other pending cases as well.
The district police hailed this 10 days achievement as a reflection of improved coordination between law enforcement and the judiciary, aiming toward swifter delivery of justice.
