Balurghat Municipality Installs Drinking Water Machine

Following the suggestions of local residents, the Balurghat Municipality has installed a drinking water vending machine in Ward No. 7 of Balurghat town. The machine was formally inaugurated on Friday afternoon by Balurghat Municipal Chairman Ashok Mitra, in the presence of Ward Councillor Shikha Mahanta Saha Choudhury.The drinking water machine has been set up at Master Para in Ward No. 7 at a cost of approximately ₹3 lakh. Speaking on the occasion, Chairman Ashok Mitra said that the municipality is installing two cold drinking water machines in different areas of the town. 

He added that although nearly 95 percent of households in Balurghat already receive municipal water supply, the water does not always come on time. To ensure round-the-clock availability of safe drinking water for residents, the municipality has taken this initiative.After inaugurating the machine, the chairman dedicated it to the local residents and appealed to them to take proper care of the facility. He assured that the municipality would take responsibility for any repair or maintenance required in the future.
