Urban development in Balurghat received a major push under the Amader Para, Amader Samadhan initiative, with an additional allocation of ₹1,16,05,618 sanctioned for city infrastructure projects. The Balurghat Municipality has officially issued work orders, marking the next phase of rapid civic transformation.

It may be recalled that during the first phase of the programme, nearly ₹1.36 crore was allocated for 20 development works across Balurghat town, most of which have already commenced, according to preliminary reports. Building on this momentum, the municipal authorities on Wednesday convened a press conference and handed over work orders for 15 more projects to the selected contractors.

Press Briefing

The press briefing was attended by Balurghat Municipal Chairman Ashok Mitra , members of the Municipal Board including Mahesh Parekh, and several councillors. While distributing the work orders, Chairman Ashok Mitra issued clear directives to the contractors to ensure swift execution and timely completion of the projects.

Municipal sources confirmed that a total of 54 schemes have been consolidated into these 15 projects, for which work orders were formally issued. Chairman Ashok Mitra stated that construction activities for all 15 works are expected to begin within the next few days. Emphasising efficiency and public benefit, he said the projects must be completed at the earliest and delivered to the people without delay.

Highlighting the broader vision of the initiative, Chairman Ashok Mitra remarked that citizens across the country—and even globally—are witnessing the West Bengal government’s commitment to action-driven governance. He described Amader Para, Amader Samadhan as a living example of the Chief Minister’s promise-driven development model, where words are swiftly translated into tangible results.
