Blood Donation Camp Marks World Blood Donor Day in Bolla, Honoring Lifesaving Volunteers

In observance of World Blood Donor Day, a voluntary blood donation camp and donor felicitation ceremony was organized on Sunday in Bolla under the joint initiative of the South Dinajpur Voluntary Blood Donors Forum and the management of the Bolla Sri Sri Raksha Kali Mata Trust.

The event commenced with the ceremonial lighting of lamps by dignitaries, symbolizing the inauguration of the program. Among those present was Abhishek Gupta, IPS, Superintendent of Police of South Dinajpur and Vice President of the South Dinajpur Voluntary Blood Donors Forum. Bikram Prasad, Deputy Superintendent of Police (Headquarters), also attended the occasion.

Representing the Bolla Raksha Kali Mata Trust were its President, Prabal Karmakar, and General Secretary, Arghya Sarkar, along with other members of the trust. Officials from the South Dinajpur Voluntary Blood Donors Forum, including Working President Pijush Kanti Deb, General Secretary Sushanta Kundu, and Treasurer Aniruddha Pal, were also in attendance.Rita Chowdhury, Secretary of the Balurghat Jibandeep Mahila Kalyan Samiti, joined the event alongside other distinguished guests.

A total of 35 volunteers, including four women, donated blood at the camp. Organizers also honored individuals who have played a significant role in promoting voluntary blood donation and supporting the lifesaving movement.Organizers said the initiative was intended not only to encourage humanitarian service but also to reinforce the message of World Blood Donor Day — that voluntary blood donation remains one of the most vital ways to save lives and strengthen community solidarity.
